Nuang was our last official training as after that we had our own training. Me, Hafriz and Isal made a trip to FRIM just for a light training. Broga was cancelled from the schedule as we were closed to date and didn't want to risk ourself, eventhough from my experience Broga is kind of lightweight too. I continued my routine 5km run as usual.
Btw, me and Isal decided to fly early to KK. We haven't been to KK and was taking this opportunity to cover all the good things about KK. We bought MAS tickets which cost us rm423 return, nett, thanks to the early-bird deal. Well, AA will cost us around rm300++ return, without food and luggage and hospitality. hehe. so this one was a very good deal.
Padas WWR was part of the plan at first, and we had few friends interested to join us. After considering the packed schedule as we flew on Saturday and only have 2.5 days for KK activities, the plan was dropped. We didn't want to slot in 2-full day heavy activities - snorkelling and WWR back to back, and then affect our hiking trip later.
We arrived KK in the afternoon and went straight to the hotel after settled everything at the airport. I booked Best-Western Hotel via Agoda and located just nearby the famous Gaya street of KK. We paid rm110 for the twin sharing room that came with breakfast. The room was ok. It was clean and comfortable, except it didn't have any window. Erghh...it felt like living in the cave as you have to depend on the hotel light all the time. Luckily we were out of the hotel most of the time, so this only come to be a problem...in early morning as you couldn't tell whether the sun is already out or not. huhuhu. asyik terlajak subuh jer...
After unpacked our luggage, we went out to survey on the snorkelling trip for tomorrow. The Jesselton's Point a.k.a the jetty is 15 minutes walk from our hotel and we booked our trip at one of the tour-operator that recommended by our hotel. well...the hotel gave us discount voucher actually for us to redeem at the recommended operator. after negotiating and redeemed our voucher, we decided to book a boat, instead of per-pax and joining other people, for a full day tour to 4 islands - manukan, mamutik , sapi and ....?. I don't recall the exact price, but i think it was around rm300++.
Then we walked back to the town and stopped at the few shopping complex along the main road - Suria, Merdeka, Centrepoint etc. just to do last minute shopping on few things left on the checklist for our Kinabalu hiking like hand gloves, rain cover etc. Isal even bought a sweater and headlamps. After dinner at the Ikan Bakar restaurant near the main street, we went back to the hotel and had an early wrapped up for the day. well...tomorrow we gonna start early with Gaya Street sunday market and then whole day snorkelling!
